A 16-year-old student died while a helper was injured when a jeep loaded with vegetables and coconuts went wayward in Bgy. Burol, Dasmarinas City, Cavite.
Police identified the fatality as Renz Jether A. Matias, a resident of Blk. 1, Bgy. H2, Dasmarinas City Cavite.
Matias was pinned between the jeep and the steel railings on the side of the road.
The injured was delivery helper Rene Lohera of Excess lot Public Market, Bgy. Burol 1, Dasmarinas City. Cavite, who jumped off the jeep.
An investigation showed the jeep driven by Zaldy Digma Bago, 43, of Taywanak Ilaya, Alfonso, Cavite had just unloaded some vegetables and coconuts at the public market and was about to leave the area when he lost control of the vehicle.
The jeep crossed the center island and hit the students walking on the other side of the road.
Witnesses rushed Matias and Lohera to the nearest hospital, where the student was declared dead on arrival.
The cargo jeep driver was arrested by responding lawmen.
