TEN members of the New People’s Army communist terror group on Friday surrendered to authorities in Davao de Oro.
Police Regional Office 11 director Brig. Gen. Benjamin Silo Jr. identified the surrenderers as alias “Junior,” alias “Karding;” alias “Benjil/Kildo;” alias “Budi/Junior;” alias “Bebing,” a squad medic; alias “Rose;” alias “Flower;” alias “Georgis;” alias “Tatay Molong,” and alias “Abloy,” all of the NPA Weakened Guerilla Front 2 operating in Davao de Oro.
Members of the 1st Davao Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (DNPMFC), Provincial Intelligence Team (PIT) Davao Norte, Regional Intelligence Division 11, and the Provincial Intelligence Board facilitated the surrender of the rebels at Sitio Mission, Bgy. Andap in New Bataan.
The operating team, together with the Mawab police and the 28th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, also recovered high-powered firearms composed five pieces of AK 47, one M14, two pieces M16, one M79, 490 bullets for 7.62, and 11 pieces steel magazines at Sitio San Vicente, Tuburan, Mawab, Davao Oro.
The surrender of the 10 rebels was the result of the massive implementation of the Philippine National Police’ and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict’ campaign plan “Kapatagan.”
The surrenderers are now under the custody of the 1st Davao Del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company for debriefing and other procedures necessary for them to avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government.
Silo lauded his men for the recovery of the cache of firearms, which contributed to the PRO11’s intensified operation against loose firearms, and strengthened its community relations, and to encourage support from the public to end local communist armed conflict in the region
