THREE members of the Communist Terror Group yesterday surrendered to the authorities in Davao de Oro.
Police Regional Office 11 director Brig. Gen. Benjamin Silo Jr. identified the surrenderers as Richmarch Roval Bisaya alias “Marmar,” 20, of P-4, Bgy. Anibongan, Maco, Davao de Oro; Leymar Tonglasan Sia alias “Jack,” 27, of Bgy. Parasanon, Maragusan, Davao de Oro, both members of the Weakened Guerilla Front 2, Sub-Regional Committee 2, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee; and a 17-year-old minor identified only as alias “Wenwen, of Bgy. San Jose, San Fernando, Bukidnon, a member of the Regional Operational Command, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee.
Silo said based on a report from Davao de Oro police commander Col. Leonard Luna, the surrenderers also pointed the location of the cache of guns — an M60 machine gun, one K3 light machine gun, one M203 grenade launcher, four M16 rifles and one Claymore mine or improvised explosive device.
Alias “Wenwen” revealed the location of the firearms he personally buried at Sitio Mission, Bgy. Andap, New Bataan, Davao de Oro.
According to Silo, an “Oplan Mission Win” was formed by a team composed of Provincial Operation and Management Unit – Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office chief Lt. Col. Jess Anthony Maghirang and the Philippine Army’s 1001st Brigade, who were immediately dispatched to the area to verify the report.
Joint police and military troopers proceeded to Sitio Mission, Bgy Andap, New Bataan, and scoured the area, where they recovered the high-powered firearms.
Silo said 1st Davao de Oro Provincial Mobile Force Company newly- designated OIC commander Maj. Edgardo Bernardo is conducting the debriefing on the surrenderers.
