CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal – The 76th Infantry Battalion under 2nd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army had a change of leadership at 11:00 a.m. yesterday in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.
The change of command ceremony between Lieutenant Colonel Bienvenido Hindang Jr., the outgoing battalion commander, and Lieutenant Colonel William Romero his successor took place at the Training Center located at the provincial capital of the said province. The ceremony was officiated by no less than Major General Rowen Tolentino, the commander of the 2nd Infantry Division.
During the occasion, MGen Tolentino lauded the remarkable leadership and accomplishments of the outgoing battalion commander, and equally expressed his trust and confidence to the successor.
But most noteworthy of all, was when the said general expressed gratitude and stressed the Army’s commitment to the people by saying “To our stakeholders, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support to 76th IB, thank you for your trust. Naririto po ang inyong kasundaluhan para makipagtulungan sa inyo, sa ikatitiwasay ng pamumuhay ng ating mamamayan. Ang hangarin po namin dito sa isla ng Mindoro ay magkaroon ng tahimik at matiwasay na komunidad at lipunan. Let us work together for a better Mindoro, for a better Philippines.”
Also present during the occasion was Mr Voltaire Valdez, the Provincial Task Force-ELCAC focal person; two Sangguniang Panlalawigan member; the municipal mayors of Sablayan, Sta Cruz, Mamburao and Abra de Ilog; the provincial heads of the DILG. TESDA, NCIP, PHILHEALTH, and DENR; as well as representatives from the academe, religious and business sector; and other heads of the local government agencies.
