PASIGARBO sa Sugbo 2023, the showcase festival of the Cebu Government held at the New Carcar City Sports Complex last August 27, demonstrated the Cebuanos’ deep affection for the country, as the performances embodied the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) “Love The Philippines” campaign.
The participating contingents displayed their support for the tourism campaign through various means, such as incorporating the Barabara font into their key visuals, using the Love the Philippines color mark, and presenting a local rendition of what there is to love in each of their cities or municipalities.
The Pasigarbo sa Sugbo, a brainchild of Governor Garcia, provided employment opportunities for local creative artisans, craftsmen, choreographers, local textile manufacturers, and regional event service suppliers, including those in the arts, crafts, food, and more.
The Pasigarbo sa Sugbo is expected to boost Cebu Province’s tourism industry for both domestic and international visitors, and is one of the highlights of the Capitol’s 454th founding anniversary celebration.
A total of 50 contingents from Cebu Province’s component cities and municipalities signed up for the street dancing competition and the grand ritual showdown, with the host city, Carcar, defending its championship title.
The honors contested during the festival include Best in Decorated Float, Best in Festival Jingle, Best in Costume, Top 5 Best in Street Dancing, and Top 10 Best in Grand Showdown.
