MARIVELES, Bataan – To promote tourism and physical activities, captain Dante Malimban revealed yesterday that he and the local government of Mariveles launched the “7th edition of Conquer Mt Tarak ridge,” a historic sky rise mountain in barangay Alas asin where foreign nationals and local have joined in the event.
This was a yearly trail running event being held at Tarak ridge, called also Mt. Mariveles, Brgy. Alasasin, Mariveles, Bataan. The event was graced by the municipal LGU and was fully supported by Baranggay Alasasin headed by its barangay captain Hon. Dante Malimban together with PARDSS FII.
Various cash prizes were given to the lucky winners, said Capt. Malimban himself a mountain climber. Team Conquer was headed by Benedict J. Meneses. “This running event intends to promote physical activities and exercises as a strategy to nurture physical, emotional, and mental health during this time of pandemic.
Taking good care of our health is the most critical now that we are in the center of crisis,” pointed out Malimban. He said this is also a good start to promote the re-opening of tourism in the municipality. Malimban said the team ensured the basic health and safety protocols as well as municipal rules and regulations were implemented and closely monitored during the event to prevent accidents. The event was conducted at Alasasin Elementary School as Start/ Finish line.
Runners ran and climbed up all the way to the Tarak Ridge via Paniquian River, traversed it to Papaya River then went back to complete the race. The race was started at 06:00 AM and finished at 3:00 PM.
The 25KM category was topped by a Denmark athlete Kristian Jeorgensen with the time of 2 hours 44 min and 30 seconds. Followed by the Altra Red Team member and a UTMB finisher local of Nueva Ecija Ronnel Valero at 2 hours 59 min 44 seconds.
While 3rd winner was a member of Team LBRY Sports Angelo Encornal at 3 hours 9 min and 30 seconds. Female 25KM category was topped by a member of Team LBRY Sports Charmaine Arrazola with the time of 3 hours 44 min and 55 seconds. Followed immediately by Mel Campos at 3 hours 50 min 51 sec. And finally at 3rd was a member of TMTR Jenniffer Comandante at 4 hours 48 min and 31 seconds.
The 10KM category was topped by athletes from Mariveles, Bataan starting from Male Champion Kristian Onate finished at 57 min and 3 seconds. Followed by Dindo Fernando at 1 hour 22 min and 38 seconds. Jezar Aduna of Team Choloflight finished 3rd at 1 hour 27 min and 30 seconds.
10KM female was topped also by a local of Bataan and the 3rd Overall finisher Louella Patricia Carpio at 1 hour 27 min and 7 seconds. Then followed by Team LBRY Sports Christine Salazar at 1 hour 31 min and 33 seconds Joy Eder Sta. Clara closed the top female finishers at 1 hour 47 min and 41 seconds. Special awards of Best Team was awarded to Bataan Running Club (BRC) for having the most number of finishers. Oldest male runner was from England Barry Pearce while the Oldest Female finisher is from Japan Hisami Nakahira.
The youngest runner finisher was a 20 year old Flower Girl Lumindas. Malimban attributed the successful event due to the following sponsors:
