SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Friday urged the country’s new lawyers to help protect the rights of other Filipinos, promote justice, contribute to the nation’s development and to serve the people with integrity and compassion.
“As you begin your journey as lawyers, I encourage you to always keep the greater good in mind. Use your skills to protect the rights of others, promote justice, and contribute to the progress of our nation. The law is a powerful tool to create meaningful change – let it guide you to serve with integrity and compassion,” said Speaker Romualdez, a lawyer from the University of the Philippines.
“The country needs lawyers who are not only skilled but also principled and driven by a strong sense of duty to the people. Let your practice reflect the values that brought you here – hard work, fairness, and service to others,” he said.
The leader of the 307-strong House of Representatives congratulated the new members of the law profession.
“Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have paid off, and you now stand as members of one of the most honorable professions in our society,” Speaker Romualdez said.
“As a fellow lawyer and alumnus of the UP College of Law, I understand the immense effort and sacrifice it takes to reach this milestone. It is not an easy road, but you have proven your resilience and commitment to your dreams,” he said.
Speaker Romualdez told the Bar passers that the “nation celebrates this achievement with you.”
“May your career as a lawyer bring honor to your family, our profession, and the country we all love,” Speaker Romualdez said.
