A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy fell into a manhole and drowned in Bacolod City. The victim was identified as Elmer Agullano, a resident of Bgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
Elmer was playing in the rain, along with his elder brother Kent and other playmates, when he slipped and fell into an open manhole. Kent tried to save his brother but to no avail.
The strong water current carried the victim away.The victim’s family, along with other rescuers, searched for him inside the culvert.
Barangay Mansilingan chairman Rodolfo Pico said they took them three hours before they found Elmer.The boy’s body was retrieved some 300 meters away from where he fell.
The victim’s mother is an overseas Filipino worker in Kuwait while his father is a delivery rider.Elias, the victim’s father, blamed the open canal for his child’s death.
