
POLICE on Tuesday arrested two “agaw-armas” men who took the gun of a security guard and tried to rob a store in Bataan.
Mariveles police commander Lt. Col. Gerald Gamboa, in a report to Bataan police director Col. Rommel Velasco, said his men and members of the Bagac police arrested suspects Ronnie Soriano and Jerson Soriano, 21, both residents of #81, Corpuz St., West Tapinac, Olongapo City.
Gamboa said the suspects forcibly took the service gun of security guard Ramon Griarte, 58, of Kamagong St., Bgy. Balon Anito, Mariveles assigned at the Fiesta Community Homes in Mariveles.
The security guard said the suspects pointed a gun at him and took his issued gun and his backpack containing his IDs and P800 in cash.
The suspects then barged inside the store of spouses Manuel and Justine Joy Pacayay in Bgy. Biaan, Mariveles.
The Sorianos tried to rob the store but the store owner shouted for help, catching the attention of force multipliers patrolling the area.
Responding force multipliers and the Sorianos grappled for the gun, which went off, hitting the two suspects.
Despite wounded, the suspects managed to flee on a motorcycle but were chased by personnel of the Mariveles and Bagac Municipal Police Stations.
The suspects motorcycle crashed in Bgy. Saysayin, Bagac, resulting in their arrest.
Recovered from the suspects were a cal. 22 rifle, one shotgun, a cal. 38 pistol with three fired bullets and one live bullet for cal. .38, a motorcycle and the backpack of security guard Griarte.
The injured suspects were brought to the Bagac Medicare Hospital but were later transferred to the Gordon Hospital in Olongapo City for further treatment.
Police said the suspects were also responsible for another “agaw-armas” case in Orani, victimizing another security guard.Gamboa said the suspects will be charged with robbery, attempted robbery, violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the Comelec gun ban
