CAMP BRIG. GEN. VICENTE LIM, Canlubang, Calamba City, Laguna – Operatives arrested 17 government employees and elected officials for alleged involvement in illegal drugs and other criminal activities in Laguna.
According to a report submitted to Calabarzon police director Brig. Gen. Carlito M. Gaces by Laguna police provincial director Col. Randy Glenn G. Silvio, 10 government workers and elected officials were caught for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Silvio said among those arrested were second level government government employees, barangay councilors, ALS teacher, barangay chairman, village watchman, Red Cross volunteer and members of the Philippine National Police and Philippine Coast Guard.
Seven other government officials were caught for other crimes, including two barangay councilors for illegal gambling, two cops for robbery extortion and illegal gambling, one barangay chairman for serious physical injury, and a municipal councilor for three counts of rape through sexual assault and rape.
Silvio said the arrests were made from November 2022 to April 2023.
“The Laguna PNP is following the directives by our regional director PBGen. Carlito M. Gaces and our chief PNP PGen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. to implement the law without fear and favor, even if the accused are public figure or belonging to any other government agencies. The arrest of the suspects serves as proof that the Philippine National Police are carrying out our duties and responsibilities fairly and equally,” the Laguna top cop said.
