
Baguio City – The City Government recently directed officials of all the one hundred twenty-eight barangays in the city to establish and consistently maintain a barangay reading center in their area for the benefit of their constituents.
Under Resolution No. 516, series of 2022, local legislators stated that it is but fitting and proper to provide further development and upliftment of its citizens, especially in the field of literacy or education.
The establishment of a barangay reading center was adopted from the proposal of Senior Citizens Officials for a Day (SCOFAD) Councilor Thelma S. Kim during a session held on October 17, 2022.
City librarian Easter Pablo stated that the City Library will extend technical support to help the barangays establish their reading centers that could be used not only by the children but also interested residents of the barangay.
