CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas – Batangas police director Col. Pedro D. Soliba on Monday led the turnover of 296 firearms and 10 motorcycles to the different police stations in the province, provincial police PIO chief Lt. Pauline P. Fernando said yesterday.
Soliba said the equipment will enhance the capability of their policemen in anti-crime operations.
Among those turned over to the Batangas police were 28 units of 9mm “Girsan” pistol, six 9mm “Taurus” pistol and two 9mm “Canik,” together with magazines and ammunition.
Also distributed were basic assault rifles with magazines, tactical slings, and ammunition.
“This will further support and strengthen our Batangas police force,” Soliba said.
According to the Batangas top cop, the guns will be given to PNP personnel without issued firearms from the government.
He said that to strengthen the patrol capabilities of the local police, 10 units of Honda XR 150 motorcycles were also turned over to ten police stations of the Batangas Police Provincial Office.
“Batangas PPO is grateful to our regional director, Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. for providing additional firearms and patrol motorcycles that will help our police force do their job effectively and efficiently,” the official added.
