THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)yesterday said all airports under their supervision are safe.
CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio issued the announcement after a magnitude 6 earthquake rocked New Bataan, Davao del Oro province Wednesday night.
According to Apolonio, airports located near the magnitude 6 earthquake in New Bataan, Davao del Oro, which occurred at 6:44 p.m. Wednesday, reported no damages in its facilities.
He said based on the report of Area 11 manager Rex Obcena, initial assessments of Davao International Airport runway, buildings and structures did not incur any damage as a result of the strong tremor.
Mati Airport in Davao Oriental reported no damages on it’s passenger terminal building.
In Laguindingan Airport, light tremor was felt but no reported damages in its facilities.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), intensity 5 was felt in New Bataan, Davao de Oro while intensity 4 in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.
Intensity 3 was recorded in Davao City, Damulog, Kadingilan, Kalilangan, Libona, Pangantucan, and Talakag, Bukidnon; City of Cagayan De Oro; Cagwait, and Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
