
CAMILLE Villar batted anew for the protection of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), citing their immense contribution to the country’s economy.
Speaking before representatives of various sectors in Quezon province last weekend, Camille Villar recalled how her family have been prioritizing the welfare of OFWs through the years.
Legal assistance, repatriation, livelihood opportunities, OFW hotlines, among others, are among the ways which the Villars helped the OFWs, said Camille Villar.
In the 18th Congress, Camille Villar was among the lawmakers who supported the approval of Republic Act 11641, which created the Department of Migrant Workers Act, specifically tasked with managing the welfare of OFWs.
Camille Villar also took the opportunity to thanked Quezon Gov. Helen Tan, and local officials for supporting her senatorial bid, and allowing her to reach out to their constituents.
In the same event, Camille Villar also underscored the need to balance efforts to improve agriculture, and develop further infrastructure to boost development in the countryside.
Camille Villar said supporting the OFWs, agriculture and infrastructure are the main focus of the public service she wants to continue, following the example set by her parents.
As a millennial leader, she also expressed confidence that she can bring new and innovative ideas on the table — aiming to help uplift the life of every Filipino, one day at a time.
