ANTI-DRUG operatives led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 3 on Tuesday arrested a Malaysian-Chinese national and seized two kilos of ketamine worth P10-million in a controlled delivery operation at a condo unit in Pasig City.
Arrested was Thai Lian Shiong, a 24-year-old Malaysian-Chinese and a resident of The Currency Residence, Julia Vargas, Ortigas, Pasig City.
Agents of the PDEA Pampanga, Clark International Airport – Drug Inter-Agency Task Group, Bureau of Customs- Port of Clark, PDEA–National Capital Region, PDEA – Calabarzon, National Bureau of Investigation-Central Luzon Regional Office, NBI-Pampanga and the local police launched the sting.
Anti-drug operatives said the ketamine came from Malaysia and arrived at the Port of Clark last January 28.
“The package containing the illegal substance was concealed inside three acupoint massage twister,” said the PDEA-R3.
Shiong was arrested after claiming the package.
Confiscated during the operation were 24 plastic pouches containing around two kilos of ketamine and a cellular phone.
The arrested foreigner will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, according to PDEA-R3.
