A COUPLE on Saturday were shot dead in Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas.
The victims were identified as Ronnie de Torres, 52, and his wife Marilou, 50, of Bgy. Kinalaglagan, Mataas na Kahoy.
Police said the suspect was their own neighbor, Lauro Vergara Jr., 48.
An investigation showed Marilou went out of the house after someone hurled stones at their house at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday.
She was getting out of the house when shot by Vergara.
Ronnie tried to help his wife, but he too was shot by the suspect.
Although wounded, Ronnie ran towards the nearby house but was chased and shot again by the suspect.
Vergara fled after the shooting.
Authorities are eyeing old grudge as motive for the killing.
It was learned that the suspect got angry after the couple refused to lend him money.
