CRIMES in Central Luzon dropped by 1,328 cases or 13.04% during the first quarter of the year, Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay yesterday said.
Based on the Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System, a total of 8,858 crime incidents were recorded from January to March this year, which is 1,328 cases or 13.04% lower than the 10,186 cases recorded in the same period last year.
“This significant decrease in crimes can be attributed to the leveling up of our anti-criminality measures, particularly on our anti-drug campaign. There is indeed a relationship between illegal drugs and the occurrence of crime. Through our relentless campaign on illegal drugs, there has been a notable crime reduction,” Baccay said.
The official said there will be no let-up in their campaign against crimes and illegal drugs.
“We will continue to intensify the conduct of operations against illegal drug personalities and drug syndicates not only concentrating on street pushers but also on our “high-value” targets who are in our drug watchlist. We will have no let-up in eradicating illegal drugs in the region, as well as in our anti-criminality efforts through enhanced managing police operations,” Baccay said.
