THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region led the groundbreaking ceremony of the Calasiao Super Health Center (SHC) on October 17, 2024, located in Brgy. Dinalaoan in the Province of Pangasinan which will bring health services including laboratory and medical consultations closer to the town’s people.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that due to the proximity of Calasiao to one of the apex hospitals of DOH, that is the Region 1 Medical Center, the health department can only approve the establishment of an SHC at this time. Patients who will be needing higher medical treatment will still be referred to R1MC as it is only a couple of minutes away.
“Yung mga basic primary care services will be given dito sa super health center so that they need not they need not go to R1MC anymore at saka yung mga minor surgical procedures and diagnostic health care dito na rin gagawin.”
She added that the Calasiao SHC is funded under the Health Facility Enhancement Program – General Appropriations Act of 2024 with a ₱10 million budget for its Phase 1 development.
The establishment of the facility was made possible through the initiative of 3rd District Representative Maria Rachel Arenas who was also present during the ceremony and the donation of a lot by Engr. Wilfredo Decena where it will be built.
Others attendees were Calasiao Mayor Kevin Roy Q. Macanlalay, Municipal Health Officer Dra. Gemma Idos-Rodrigo, officials from the DOH regional office and local government and barangay health workers of various barangays.
Meanwhile, DOH – Ilocos Region also led the inauguration and blessing of the Tagudin SHC located in Brgy Pacac in Ilocos Sur on October 15, 2024.
The facility was funded under the HFEP – GAA 2023 with also a P10 million budget for its phase 1 development.
