DOH-Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco yesterday led the distribution of hygiene kits in evacuation centers in La Union to monitor the health and safety of evacuees.
THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region yesterday immediately mobilized its emergency health teams in all Provincial DOH Offices in all provinces to assess, monitor and provide medicines, first aid and hygiene kits to local government units (LGUs) that will need additional supplies due to the onslaught of severe tropical storm “Kristine”.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco has assured the public that the DOH Health Emergency Management Service is in close coordination with provincial health disaster teams in the provinces to continuously monitor families’ health status in all evacuation centers to assess health concerns and provide appropriate technical assistance.
“Patuloy po ang paglilibot ng ating mga emergency teams kasama ang mga miyembro ng PDOHO sa mga probinsya upang magbigay ng agarang tulong kung ito ay kinakailangan gaya ng pamimigay ng additional hygiene kits at jerry cans sa mga nasa evacuation centers.”
In addition, Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate (Troclosene Sodium) tablets were already delivered to Bauang and Bacnotan evacuation centers for the disinfection of water.
Meanwhile, Sydiongco personally delivered relief goods and hygiene kits to 43 families or 116 individuals who sought shelter in Bang Ju Mission Center (BMC), a Christian Church pastored by Rev. Il Kwan Kim from South Korea, who opened their facility as a temporary shelter to the residents of the nearby communities during the typhoon.
She lauded the members of BMC for lending a helping hand to typhoon-affected families including providing food and necessities.
“May you continue to be blessed as you bring hope and relief in times of need. Your selfless act has saved the lives of residents in your community,” Sydiongco gratefully expressed.
Effective October 24, 2024, most health facilities in the region were upgraded to code “Blue” Alert Level in anticipation of any eventuality concerning STS “Kristine”.
