THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region gave recognition to 211 awardees during the “2024 Gawad Kalusugan Awarding Ceremony” held in Candon, Ilocos Sur on December 9, 2024 for their valuable contribution to the achievement of Kalusugang Pangkalahatan in the improvement of basic health services in the community and achievement of vaccination targets.
Three award categories were given including the Madaydayaw Award which recognizes provinces, government agencies and organizations in the region who participated and supported the regional office’s health programs and activities at the community level; the Palbayani award for commendable performance in the implementation and establishment of health programs and services; the Bannuar Iti Salun-At Award for outstanding support and commitment in the implementation of health programs and services of the health department.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco extended her grateful appreciation and congratulated all the awardees for their commitment and perseverance in delivering equitable health care services in their respective communities.
“Through your commitment and support, we have achieved 100% Province-Wide City-wide Health System (P/CWHS) integration in our four provinces – La Union, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Pangasinan and in Dagupan City; 86% at the organizational level; and we now have 48% functional network-wide management support system while 45% is ongoing institutionalization and 7% yet to be started,” she stated.
“With our continues collaborative efforts, we can achieve our vision of a “Bagong Pilipinas” wherein “Bawat Buhay ay Mahalaga”at hindi maiiwanan sa kanilang kalusugan.
Among the awardees were regional government agencies, local government units, organizations/ associations, hospitals both public and private were given due recognition for ensuring the safety and health of every Filipino in region 1.
Cash prizes amounting from ₱20,000 to ₱150,000 including plaques of recognition were given to this year’s awardees.
“Let us celebrate our efforts and continue safeguarding the health of our people. And let out milestones be our guide in our continuing journey towards providing excellence in health care” Sydiongco concluded.
