STARTING February 10, foreign tourists are now welcome to enter to our country after closing the border for a long time due to corona virus .
The Bureau of Immigration is expecting 30percent increase in arrivals of travelers on the first day .
According to BI port operations division (POD) chief Atty. Carlos Capulong, around 7,000 people or 27 percent of them are foreigns nationals.
Only fully vaccinated tourists are allowed to enter the country and may present required documents set by Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF)BI Commissioner Jaime Morente instructed port personnel to remain vigilant and ensure only eligible aliens will be allowed entry.
Morente shared that they expect that families, loved ones, and partners of Filipinos will be among those who will arrive on the first wave of tourist arrivals.
“Many unmarried couples and families have long lobbied for the reopening of our borders for them to be reunited with their loved ones,” said Morente. BI also projects the number of arrivals will rise up to 10-12k per day for the following months.
