THE House of Representatives, led by Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, honored on Thursday 28 retirees for the period July to December 2024.
The honorees included Deputy Secretary General Engr. Floro Banaybanay of the Engineering and Physical Facilities Department (EPFD).
Speaker Romualdez congratulated the retirees and wished them the best in their future endeavors through a message conveyed by Secretary General Reginald Velasco.
“You have dedicated much, if not all of your productive years in the service of the Filipino people at the House of Representatives. Working in the government is hard. Working at the HRep is even harder given the hundreds of congressmen whose diverse legislative requirements that must be responded to and be satisfied,” he said.
He prodded the honorees to look forward to the bright new adventures ahead of them, free from the administrative con#straints of government work, as he vowed continuous support from the HRep.
“Some will be doting grandfathers and grandmothers to their grandchildren. Some will pursue personal endeavors or you can simply enjoy the benefits that are well earned. Go with our blessings. From time to time, visit your co-workers. Know that the HRep will continue to support you in your endeavors as the law allows,” he said.
The Speaker also assured that the retirees will still be able to enjoy the healthcare that regular employees enjoy.
Finally, Speaker Romualdez urged the honorees to continue serving the people, stressing that their tenure as a government employee or officer may have ended but the need to help their fellows remains.
“In your years in these halls of public service, you have gained much and learned much so that you can be of assistance to your neighbors, friends, even out of the government. This way we show our love for the Philippines and we show love to our fellow Filipinos. Mula sa mga kasama ko sa Kamara de Representantes, sampu ng mga opisyal at kawani ng ahensiyang ito, Salamat, Mabuhay. Salamat sa inyo at inalay ninyo ang inyong buhay para sa HRep. Mabuhay ang mga returees,” he said.
Meanwhile, in his reflection, Banaybanay said the HRep has gone a long way from having just three main buildings during his early years in the institution. He said almost all offices, even the kitchen reserves and lobbies, now have been fully renovated.
He also reported that up for completion of construction are the basketball court, health and wellness center and the Secretariat and the Institute for Legislation and Legislative Governance buildings.
