LAND Transportation Office (LTO) Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II has ordered the issuance of a Show Cause Order on the registered owner of a vehicle which figured in a road accident but opted to escape in Makati City.
Mendoza’s order was in response to the request for assistance of the owner of the vehicle that was hit by the orange color MG ZS with license plate NIF 2282 along the southbound of the Ayala Tunnel in Makati City on October 23.
In the Facebook post, the driver of the vehicle said that he was with two senior citizens and a child when their car was hit by the MG ZS vehicle from behind. The incident was captured by a dashcam.
But instead of pulling over to take responsibility, the driver sped off the vehicle.
“Tayo ay nagpapasalamat sa tiwala ng ating kababayan nung i-tag ang ating Facebook account sa kanyang social media post. In this regard, I have already instructed the LTO-National Capital Region headed by Regional Director Roque Verzosa III to conduct an immediate investigation into this incident,” said Mendoza.
“I expect the issuance of a Show Cause Order to the registered owner that could lead to the identification of the person driving this vehicle at the time of the accident,” he added.
Mendoza assured the victim that he will personally monitor the progress of the investigation of the case.
The LTO action was already forwarded to the office of Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista.
“Makakaasa ang uploader ng video na personal kong tututukan ito. I also instructed the LTO-NCR to coordinate with him for the appropriate legal action,” said Mendoza.
