THE National Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident in Pilar, Abra last March 29 that left a bodyguard of the town’s vice mayor dead.
NBI agents went to the province and met with Mayor Mark Rolando Somera
The NBI said it wants to conduct a reconstruction of the crime scene and a chemical analysis of firearms and vehicles involved in the alleged shooting incident in Pilar municipality.
The investigation will be supervised by agent II Henry Roxas Jr.. Last Thursday, the Philippine National Police has filed charges against local officials involved in a shootout and standoff in Pilar town.
The PNP accused Mayor Maro Somera and Vice Mayor Jaja Josefina Somera Disono of violating Republic Act 9208 as amended by RA 10364 or the Expanded Trafficking in Persons Act.
“The cases filed are the product of the evidence and testimonies that our police investigators were able to gather. Those involved individuals will be made to submit themselves to the judicial proceeding,” PNP chief Dionardo Carlos said.
Cases were also filed against local government unit employees Robert Boreta Toreno and Emmanuel Nicanor Valera, as well as Disono’s house helper Jericho Toreno Bufil.
Last March 29, a shootout happened after a van in Vice Mayor Disono’s convoy reportedly did not stop at a checkpoint. The van sped towards Disono’s compound.
A standoff then ensued at Disono’s home between armed men and the police.
