OVER P27 million worth of smuggled cigarettes was seized on Thursday by operatives of the Police Regional Office 12 and the Bureau of Customs in a buy bust operation in Hagonoy ,Davao del Sur.
PRO11 director Brig. Gen. Benjamin Silo Jr. said members of the RSOG-RPDEU XI, Digos police, Regional Intelligence Division, Integrity Monitoring Enforcement Group and the Bureau of Customs conducted an entrapment resulting in the arrest of Tapsaren Alibasa, at the suspect’s residence in Aplaya, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur.
The suspect yielded six packs of Hoodlum cigarettes he sold to poseur buyers, two cal. .45 pistols loaded with several live bullets, a magazine and 15 live bullets for cal. .9mm, 690 boxes of smuggled cigarettes in different brands valued at P27,600,000.
Alibasa will be charged with violation of RA 1937 and RA 10863, RA 8293, RA 7394, and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law On Firearms And Ammunition.
Silo said the successful operation reflected the strong coordination between other government agencies and the PNP.
“I am expecting everyone to perform their best. Let us put into practice the true spirit of public service. Walang yabang, walang abuso,” the PRO11 director said.
