
 PURSUANT to the government’s fight against agricultural smuggling and directive of the Chief, PNP Police General Nicolas D Torre III for swift and responsive police force , theCriminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) intensified its operation against agricultural smuggling, economic sabotage, and all illegal activities across the country.
On June 6, 2025, the CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 – Special Operations Team together with CIDG Bulacan Provincial Field Unit, Meycauayan City Police Station, Department of Agriculture Inspectorate Enforcement (DA IE) and Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) implemented Search Warrants for violation of Violation of Section 3 (g) of Republic Act 10845 (Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act of 2016) in relation to Republic Act 10659 (Sugarcane Industry Development Act of 2015) in three warehouses of BRAE Sugar Trading located at Muralla Industrial Park, Brgy. Perez, Meycauayan City, Bulacan that resulted in the discovery and confiscation of alleged illegally stored sugar.
Report that reached Police Colonel Ranie P Hachuela, Officer in Charge of CIDG stated that the three warehouses yielded 95,568 sacks of alleged illegally stored sugar with estimated market value of Php307,675,950.00.
OIC, CIDG emphasized that illegal storing of agricultural product including sugar regardless of quantity is considered economic sabotage, thus, against the law.
Republic Act 10845 (Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act of 2016) declares that is the policy of the State to promote the productivity of the agriculture sector and to protect farmers from unscrupulous traders and importers who significantly affect the production, availability of supply and stability of prices, and the food security of the State.
The State shall impose higher sanctions for large-scale smuggling of agricultural products, as a self-preservation measure to shield itself from the manipulative scheme of economic saboteurs, and to protect the livelihood of our farmers and to ensure their economic well-being.

It underscores our unyielding stance against smuggling of agricultural products and economic sabotage. With the confiscation of this alleged illegally stored very large amount of sugar, we significantly prevented hoarding and economic sabotage. Maraming Maraming salamat sa inyo.
