PURSUANT to its efforts to help revive local tourism, the House of Representatives (HRep), through the Transport Facilities Group (TFG) of its Engineering and Physical Facilities Department (EPFD), on Tuesday began the two-day Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) Caravan.
The event, which was organized in coordination with RFID suppliers EasyTrip and AutoSweep, offered RFID installation, replacement, reloading as well as account linking. TFG Transport Maintenance Officer Ms. Helen Esteban explained that only those who have the latest Neology RFID stickers can link their account to the other RFID system. Vehicles equipped with outdated RFID stickers must replace them in order to access the interoperability functionality of the RFID system.
AutoSweep and EasyTrip staff were deployed to assist those who registered their vehicles and educate users about the RFID technology. The RFID system takes the hassle out of traditional toll booth transactions for a convenient and seamless travels. It may be noted that selected toll plazas no longer accept cash payment, beginning September. Some 174 vehicle owners availed of the services in the RFID Caravan.
