
POLICE on Thursday arrested a son of a former vice mayor of Gumaca, Quezon for alleged possession of dried marijuana leaves.
Quezon police director Col. Ledon Monte identified the arrested suspect as Victor Lavides Loyola II, 25, of Bgy. Rosario, Gumaca town.
Monte said the suspect is a son of former town Vice Mayor Myla Lavides.
Gumaca police commander Maj. Reden Romasanta said prior to the arrest, security guard Sonny Boy Devillles, 35, assigned at Southern Quezon Convention Center spotted Loyola in Bgy. Tabing Dagat while receiving plastic sachets containing dried marijuana leaves from a Louie Medina of Bgy. Rosario.
Romasanta said the security guard immediately called at the police station and relayed the information.
A police team rushed to the place and arrested Loyola while in possession of the illegal drugs.
Medina managed to escape.
The suspect yielded two transparent plastic sachets and two folded papers containing dried marijuna leaves and seeds weighing around 25 grams.
