THE Philippine National Police (PNP), through coordinated efforts of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Mandaue City Field Unit, CIDG Regional Field Unit 7, and Regional Intelligence Unit 7 under the Intelligence Group, successfully conducted an anti-illegal trade operation in Barangay Santo Niño, Cebu City on May 19, 2026.
The operation, carried out along Plaridel Street inside a commercial building, led to the arrest of two individuals following a buy-bust operation involving alleged violations of Republic Act No. 7394, or the Consumer Act of the Philippines. Authorities recovered and confiscated approximately 207 assorted units of laptops with an estimated market value of PHP 5.3 million.
The suspects are currently under the custody of CIDG Mandaue CFU for proper documentation and disposition. No further details are being released while investigation and case build-up are ongoing.
PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., said the accomplishment reflects the organization’s continued commitment to protect consumers and ensure that trade and commerce remain lawful and transparent.
“Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang mga operasyon na naglalayong protektahan ang publiko at tiyakin na ang mga transaksyon sa merkado ay naaayon sa batas,” PGen Nartatez said.
